Zine Library Launch Event: Panel and Workshop

Join us in celebrating our Zine Library Launch, taking place on October 22!

Zines are DIY self-published booklets or pamphlets that aren’t about perfection the way that you may think about most published materials – they are about sharing your ideas or points of view – ones that might not always be represented in the context of an academic library. Anyone can make a zine, and they can be about virtually anything: music, home, friendship, love, work, body positivity, personal experiences. Since 2023, UTSC Library has been collecting zines that have been created by authors living generally within the GTA, and more broadly, in Ontario. We have accrued a substantial number of zines, which we will be launching as a collection that you can explore! Join us in our launch activities:

1. A lively discussion on zines where a panel of zinesters and experts will discuss the benefits of zines, why you should be making them, how you can incorporate them into your curriculum and assignments, and why they enrich library collections. Time: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, snacks provided.
2. A Zine workshop and friendly competition where you can make and submit a zine within a one week period, to be evaluated by our panelists for a chance to win some prizes! 2:00-4:00pm

Please register to attend!
